Here are our
details
About the area we live in |
We live on the edge of Corsham (a
small
historic Medieval market town)
in North Wiltshire, 8 miles east of Bath. Corsham is actually on the very southerly tip of the Cotswolds.
We are at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac so there
is no through traffic. The cul-de-sac is made up of a mixture of HA and privately
bought homes. Our end of the road has about 15-20 houses.
where we live on MultiMap.com (Pockeridge Road, Corsham, Wiltshire. SN13
9SA).
Everything in Corsham (shops, dentist, doctors, schools,
parks, etc…) is within about
30 minutes walking distance of our house
so there's no need to have a car. There is also a small local bus service and a
good taxi service.
The nearest shop/late night garage to us is exactly 1 mile away.
The town center (where all the main shops, ect... are) is 2.5 miles away. The
nearest school (primary school and nursery) is also exactly 1 mile away.
We are in a semi rural location. There are fields and foot paths (good for dog walking) both front and back, all just a short walk away. Although you can't actually see them from the house itself.
There is loads of open countryside all around Corsham and next to Corsham Court there is a huge private park with a big lake (good for feeding the ducks). The park is used for sheep grazing during the Spring/Summer but it is always open all year round to the public for dog walking, picnics, sitting under the big trees and relaxing, etc...
The park is actually
the main part of the Methuen Manor Estate. Corsham itself still 'officially'
belongs to the Methuen family due
to it being built on the Methuen family's land and so Corsham is part of the
Methuen Manor Estate. Corsham
is also known as the Corsham
Estate.
The Estate has remained in the hands of the Methuen family since 1745.
Once
a year the residents of Corsham are invited to 'Lunch On The Lawn' which is
a small, and sometimes, rather posh affair set in the main gardens of the Manor
House itself. Sometimes the stalls they have will be set up in the grounds
of the neighbouring church too.
Don't
let the railway line near us (see
it on MultiMap) put you off. It is down in a deep embankment so noise levels are low,
plus the trains are fast and infrequent anyway. You may even hear the odd steam
train or even the Orient Express go past.
|
Here are a few
Corsham related sites you might want to look at. |
About our house |
We have a Housing Association house
(Sanctuary Housing) with 4 bedrooms - 2 doubles and 2 singles, a separate dining room, 2 toilets and a 75'
back garden. We don’t have much of a front garden because it’s mainly a 2 car
drive way (off road parking).
The house is terraced. We
are first from the end.
Our living room has a sliding patio door that leads
into the garden.
The garden has a top patio. That patio then has
a foot path that leads to another patio at the bottom of the garden (see photos).
Between these two patios is the grass lawn and our vegetable beds. If you don't
fancy growing your own veg then you can re-turf this, to give you an extra 12'
of grass.
We
have recently put new fencing up to give more privacy from the neighbours
(not that they are nosey anyway lol).
The rent here is £89 per week and Sanctuary Housing will allow a family, with only two children, to live in a 4 bed house.
Our house plan is below.
Click a PHOTO
link to see a photo. Some
of our photos need to be updated due to redecorating and redoing the garden.
We will do this ASAP.

INFO

We have also shown where our furniture fits in
the rooms to give you an idea as to where your things could maybe go.
|
We
have two ceiling fans (one in the living room and one in bedroom 1). These will stay
if we move. They are too much hassle to take down.
Also the swing set in the garden will stay too. It
is also too much
hassle to dismantle and take with us, so we will just buy new after moving.
So
if you have kids that want a set of swings, they come with the house.
About the type of house we need |
We are looking for a:
Large 3 bed house with either a large lounge/kitchen diner or a separate dining room (preferred).
or
a
4 or 5 bed house
with either a large lounge/kitchen diner or a separate dining room (preferred).
Also it would be helpful if your bedrooms were a similar size to ours, so we can fit all the furniture that we have in them.
WHAT WE DEFINITELY NEED
WHAT WE DEFINITELY DON'T WANT
About the areas we would like to move to |
We will consider most rural areas on the map below. However, if possible we would really rather stay close to Chippenham due to work. In fact, the closer to Chippenham we stay, the better.

About our reasons for moving |
Our only reason
for wanting to move is to be more in the countryside. This will not
only help improve our children's Asthma but it will benefit our business too.
We
are private people and we have always loved the countryside. Ideally we would love a house
in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields and the nearest neighbour 2 miles
away...lol.
If you like what you have seen here and you think you may have what we want, please email us. Please send us your postcode and road name, so we can look you up on MultiMap, and any other info you have. Or you can just call us on 01225 811 381.
Thanks.
